Michael Reed pestered me for a couple of days to read Michael Crichton's Caltech Michelin Lecture "Aliens Cause Global Warming", and I'm very glad I did. Crichton's polemic is an uncommonly clear warning against the phenomenon of "consensus science" in America. Lysenkoism is still alive and well... and in America now.

But I am very glad you did read it, and found it worthwhile. I particularly think it is important because Crichton can be quite influential, and I believe he has mentioned that his next book will incorporate some of the themes covered in this lecture.

What's Crichton's next book about?
Posted by: Russell Whitaker on January 6, 2004 9:20 PMHe didn't say specifically. I saw that he mentioned it in the "Speeches" section of his website--http://www.crichton-official.com/speeches/index.html--and, where, it appears, that he has now removed that speech temporarily. So, make sure you save a copy!
