In the last 2 days, I've seen two of these incredibly interesting van conversions on the streets near home: the Quigley-Sportsmobile 4WD Vehicle. I would much rather have one of these than a Hummer H2.

No retractable hot tub?
Where's the roof mounted gun turret?
Ah! Another "Stripes" fan...

The van conversion you linked to is interesting, but I prefer a tricked out Chevy Suburban or Ford Excursion or Expedition.

for one that's over the top.
Seriously, I was able to compare a tricked out Suburban and a Hummer when I was living in MT. The Suburban was hands down my choice. It would go about 95% of the places the Hummer would and a number of places it wouldn't because the Hummer was so wide. Much more comfortable, much more usable room.
Actually, I'd prefer tricking out a school bus with 4wd, 4wis, hyrbid diesel/electric motor on hub and oversized air bag suspension for variable height/variable ride. Convert the bus into a real camper, and inflatable pontoons under the chassis for amphibious use.
Then of course mount a swing wing to the roof and some Learjet sized turbofans.... ahem..
A bus with floats? Coming right up! Introducing the Terra Wind:

It's expensive but, hey, it floats!

I moved to NYC and have to sell the machine, anyone know where the best place is to advertise this beast?
For a quick visual comparison of the Excursion and Suburban with the Quigley Sportsmobile check this :

It's like the Steyr-Daimler-Puch Pinzgauer of the seventies,

but done to an American scale minus the comic book absolutism of the HMMWV-inspired products:

(I saw an interesting test mule HMMWV at Aberdeen in '86 with a Mecedes in line diesel and a 5-speed manual transmission)
