To believe in gun control, you have to believe that it's wrong to make snide, sexist comments about women, unless the comments are about women who own guns.

Thus, someone who gets their hands on a gun (as opposed to anything and everything else) will change their mind and be more willing, even eager, to harm someone with it.
The problem is, of course, that police and military types have guns. So no only must someone believe that the general population is going to act worse, they must also believe that somehow police and military are inherently better people than everybody else.
Gun control is, in fact, the mindset of the voluntary slave. Hoplophobia is irrational and pathological.
