I just found a cool and useful site for software testers (which I include to mean all developers, who should write their own test cases): Opensourcetesting.org, "Open source tools for software testing professionals".
Posted by Russell Whitaker at July 12, 2004 2:41 PM | TrackBacka co-worker came across this site and showed it to me, ive read alot of comments and i understand where everyone is coming from. i have worked for the census for almost 2 yrs now and alot of people i talk to understand what the form is about and how it helps in the diffrent communities and also i come across people who are very upset like everyone on here is about the survey. now im not posting this to start anything but to answer a few questions and comments that i have read that are concerns. obviously people who are posting on here has recieved a survey since you know about it and are commenting on it. alot of people are worried about identity theft but it is not possible considering we do not ask for sosials or anything that could identify you personaly, you dont have to give your name you can stay unidentified, we cannot get statistics from names so theres no use in writing them, i read something about having a date of birth being asked, you do not have to give that either, if you call and do the interview over the phone you can just give estimates like if your 34 you could just say your in your 30's and thats fine nothing thats asked has to be accurate if you do the phone interview there are ways around the questions that are on the form like the date of birth ect. and the info cannot be traced back to anyone reguardless of who you are, the info you provide gets combined with everyone elses in the community who recieves the surve so it just becomes 1 average statistical percentage number that represents that area just for that month. as you know the form is not sent to anyone personaly its sent to just the physical address to get stats for that area thats why we dont need or care about if you give names or not thats not what the census is looking for. another ? i read was why we ask about utilities and morgages ect, as you all know there are programs that help the elderly out with utilities like H.U.D and soforth so we use the average cost of utilities so see about what an area combined spends on gas and lights. also to see if people are being treated fairly when they buy a house to see if theres an average and noone is being treated unfairly by haveing to pay 300 more that the average person, education, if a great company wants to expand its business they can look at the stats to see what ares has the education level to do the type of work they need and the age needed to do that, if they look at the stats and see an areas average age group is 16 or 70 they see that the ares doesnt have the requirements it needs to fulfill a business opening there or if the average education level is 9th grade and they need college experiance. all im saying is no personal info is published only statistics and percentages that will change month to month. im not saying im for the survey but i not saying im against it either im not even trying to talk anyone into filling out the form if they recieve it im just answering some ?'s and concerns that i read on here and just wanted to give some answers. and even i will have to fill this out when i recieve it even though they have my info on file and fingerprints and so on cause i work there. like i said im not trying to talk anyone into filling it out or anything of the sort, just answering a few things i seen on here im not trying to have anyone get cused out or anything and like i said i didnt say i was for it or against it just adding my view to some concerns and comments on here.
