Renny Manne has done an interesting podcast on the Firefly phenomenon.

The term does leave out people who do not have an iPod, nor will. It would be interesting to know who at Apple was involved in coining the phrase as a marketing tool.
But then, I have yet to even experiment with "RSS", so I guess I'm just a technologic Neandertal. The world has passed me by.

No, "podcasting" is a technique for automatically delivering audio content to MP3 players, with no requirement that it be an iPod:

Just to be as annoying as possible, I think I'll still use the word "subscription" or the like, the same way I say "Internet" when other people talk about "The Web". I'm a cultural dinosaur.
Posted by: Curt Howland on April 12, 2005 11:49 AMDarn, I cannot go back and make this one post. My apologies.
So "podcast" referrs to its delivery method?
I didn't get the file by "podcast", I requested and received an audio file. Nothing automatic about it. So do I get to call my copy an "audio article" while others can call it a "podcast"?
English is so much fun.
