I've caught the "Billion Monkeys" meme

I've caught the "Billion Monkeys" meme from my English blogger friend Brian Micklethwait (whom I met during my London sojourn in the early 1990's), who coined the term to describe those who take digital photographs of, well, others of those who take digital photographs of others. Here's one from my trip last spring to Beijing, a tour guide in the Forbidden City:

The first in a number of Billion Monkeys posts

I must admit of course that the "Billion Monkeys" thing didn't occur to me at the time... I was simply taken with a rather attractive young Chinese woman.

This photo illustrates four Billion Monkey principles, at least.

1. Billion Monkeys hold onto their stuff! In London, shopping bags. Here, her flag. Real Photographers put their stuff down, and make sure they do everything properly. But Billion Monkeys have lives, and don't want them stolen!

2. Billion Monkeys are often really nice looking girls! Girls like to photo each other, and the ones that look nicest in these photos are the keenest.

3. Billion Monkeys adopt lovely poses that you would never get them to adopt if you told them!

4. Billion Monkeys don't see you coming! They're too busy concentrating on their Billion Monkey Machines!

The Billion Monkeys concept began in my mind as a reference to that thing about a million monkeys sitting at a million typewriters, and not typing the complete works of Shakespeare, or any Shakespeare at all come to that. But a Billion Monkeys are now snapping away with a Billion digicams, and the results will be far better!
